How do I choose the right counsellor for me?
Choosing the right counsellor is important. We recommend considering factors such as the counsellor's experience, areas of training, also what's happening for you.
In the UK, the titles Counsellor and Psychotherapist are not protected in any way, essentially anyone can use those terms and set themselves up offering therapy despite having no qualifications or experience. Looking for a therapist who is a member of a body listed on the UK Government Professional Standards Register (https://www.professionalstandards.org.uk/practitioners/psychotherapist?&page=1&sort=relevance)shows an appropriate level of qualification and experience has been obtained. This in turn gives you the assurance you can trust them and work with them confidently.
All of our therapists belong to membership bodies on this register which reflects and level of training and professional development. This assures you we work safely and appropriately to your benefit and helps you find a professional counselling service or psychotherapist.
