How long does each therapy session last?
Therapy sessions for one-to-one counselling typically last 50 minutes. This time allows you time to explore what is going on for you in depth while ensuring you have the support you need and to start to understand how things affect you as well as getting relief from difficulties.
Some of our therapists offer 30 minute solution focused sessions (https://www.churchill-square-counselling.com/post/solution-focused-brief-therapy-sfbt-a-path-to-positive-change)or 60 minute couples or relationship therapy (https://www.churchill-square-counselling.com/post/does-relationship-counselling-work-couples-relationship-and-marriage-counselling-for-infidelity)sessions. The type of therapy and how long these will last can be discussed with your chosen therapist. Please feel free to have this conversation so we can best help you.

During your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking counselling, your goals, and any concerns you may have. This is a confidential place for you to share about whatever it is that has happened and we will start working together to help you find solutions that suits your needs. You won't be pushed to speak about anything you don't want to and it is all at your pace.
You will be provided with everything you need prior to attending the first session by your therapist but if you have a specific question or need to clarify anything do ask. It can feel a bit daunting but we are here to help make it as smooth as possible.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no set answer to this and things that may impact this will be what has happened and how it is affecting you, the type of therapy you are looking for, the type of approach taken to help and how things pan out in the sessions.
Our counsellors will discuss realistic timeframes at the first session or in the initial assessment so you will have a clear understanding of this before you commence. All our counsellors conduct regular reviews with you to make sure you are getting the help you need. you will get the help required in as many sessions as it takes for you to feel a benefit.
Therapy doesn’t have to be weekly or long-term to be meaningful. We can work in a way that feels realistic for you, taking into account your time, availability and financial commitments also. If you are looking for a fixed number of sessions to try and work on a particular issue then a therapeutic coaching (https://www.churchill-square-counselling.com/post/unlocking-your-potential-the-benefits-of-psychotherapeutic-coaching)approach may be helpful or working in a Solution Focused Way.(https://www.churchill-square-counselling.com/post/solution-focused-brief-therapy-sfbt-a-path-to-positive-change)
How much do counselling sessions cost?
