What is relationship therapy?
Relationship therapy (https://www.churchill-square-counselling.com/post/does-relationship-counselling-work-couples-relationship-and-marriage-counselling-for-infidelity)explores difficulties in your relationship with your partner whether they are a spouse, you're in a long term or new relationship or you are married or in a civil partnership. Therapists for couples are also known as relationship counsellors or sometime marriage guidance counselling or marriage counselling - although relationships are varied and unique.
Whether that is about communication, trust, conflict, or emotional distance. A couples therapy therapist helps partners understand each other’s needs, recognise unhelpful patterns, and learn healthier ways to connect and resolve issues. The focus is not on blame, but on building understanding, strengthening emotional connection, and supporting the relationship to move forward in a more secure and balanced way.

Can you help with marriage counselling for infidelity?
Therapists for couples help overcome challenges and relationships facing the impact of infidelity and the shock, anger, confusion, and grief that can follow. Whether the affair has just come to light or you’ve been trying to move forward for some time, therapy offers a structured and steady space to slow things down, understand what’s happened, and decide what comes next. That might mean rebuilding trust, improving communication, or working out whether the relationship can and should continue.
Counselling for marriage break up isn’t about blaming or forcing forgiveness. It’s about making sense of the rupture, exploring the patterns that surrounded it, and helping both partners speak honestly without things escalating further. Sessions can be offered face to face, online, or in a hybrid format, with flexibility around frequency to fit around work and family life.

Does relationship counselling work?
Relationship counselling can be very effective, but not because it “fixes” a relationship for you. It works when both people are willing to look honestly at patterns, communication styles, expectations, and the impact you have on each other. Relationship problems therapy provides space where conversations that usually end in conflict, silence, or withdrawal can happen more safely and productively.
It isn’t only for couples in crisis. Many people seek relationship counselling to improve communication, rebuild trust, navigate life transitions, or decide whether to stay together. Therapists for couples help the process so you understand what keeps you stuck, what still connects you, and what would need to change for the relationship to feel healthier. The success rate of marriage counselling relationship counseling varies but by trying you are giving yourself of this working.
